Overview

Queen of Caria II. The Mausoleum, which was built by Artemisia for her husband and brother Mausolos, has been accepted as one of the seven wonders of the world. Important parts of the 36-columned structure were taken to England and are still exhibited in the British Museum. Today, the word Mausoleum is still used for monumental structures in world languages.
