The city, which was established on the territory of the Asian and European continents, has been the settlement of many civilizations throughout its history. It was the scene of the Dardanelles War, which has a great importance in Turkish history. The Entente Powers were defeated by the Turkish force and this victory took an important place in Turkish history.
